Oh well, finally i've gotten some time off, as in only "SOME" time off. I've decided to go Pangkor. Well, not that i've never been there but i just decided i wanted to go there again. Random decision.
So, here's a little something for you people who wants to go to Pangkor.
Firstly, accommodation. I used booking.com to book everytime, but unfortunately for this time, they cancelled my Anjungan booking while i was bringing some kids to Taman Negara trip, which i will write in as well. Anyways i then use agoda.com to book Hornbill, which was not the best choice cause i then found out that if you deal directly with them it's actually cheaper. So, next time do that.
However for a more cheaper stay, try camping there. And i believe i will do so the next time cause it's nice, you can camp almost anywhere. Even if you need to pay, it might be RM5-RM10 per head. Of course, you got to have your own camping gear and stuff. If you want to, do call this new friend that i've made, name is Mahadi (017-5430875), great guy.
And he owns a boat, this boat. Cool guy.
So, first things first, KL to Lumut. Earliest bus is 8.30am and latest is 7.00pm. RM27 per way. It's a 4 hour journey. They will take a few stops but just get down at Lumut. There's where you can take a 5 minutes walk to the Lumut Waterfront. Get a RM10 ticket to Pangkor, it's a round trip. Try not to go on a weekend or long weekend cause it's gonna be pack.... but well, can't loose a chance for some selfies right...
Anyways just a friendly advice, get down only on the second island. Yup, the second stop. I don't know where the first stop leads but be sure it's not the Pangkor that you are heading for.
So once you reach you will be greeted by a bunch of people who wants you to rent their bikes and all. Go ahead, it's nicer to travel with a bike. Weekend price is about RM60-RM80. Yup, expensive i know. Cheaper on weekdays thou. Don't need to show your licence or even wear a helmet. Pretty cool. But the tank is empty so just fill up a RM3-RM4 worth of petrol. It's good enough. The people will always give you a mini map which is pretty useful, keep it. And before you decide to head down straight to your destination, make sure you use the ATM first around there cause you won't be able to find any later.
After checking in, the first thing we did was jump ourselves into the beach and started playing like kids! Well the water was really clean. I suggest, if you are at the Coral Beach, go to the side nearest to the temple. Water is the cleanest and not that many people there.
See? How clear the water is. It's really, really clean and clear.
And the sunset was awesome.
After a long swim, we are hungry! Hahaha! We decided to get some seafood, since we are in an Island, seafood should be fresh. We decided to go Chinese! Coco Seafood is the place we stopped by. It's about 10 minutes bike out from our stay. We ordered Salted Egg fried Mantis Prawn, Oyster Fried Egg, and Steam Fish. 2 rice and 2 drinks cost us about RM63.
Super full...... Fresh, and satisfying. And this kinda ended out 1st day.
Second day, i woke up early in the morning just to catch the Sunrise, but i didn't make it up early in the morning. I woke up at 7.30am. But anyhow you still get a pretty good view. I redid up all the way and actually rounded the entire Island.
It's worth the trouble, but honestly, no trouble at all. So just go.
After that, we had to have breakfast. On the other side of the island, there are more Chinese food. So we just randomly stopped by some Coffee Shop and just eat random food.
Apparently this is so famous until it was published and promoted in the newspaper. It was special, worth a try. There are some small stalls that sells local "kuih" which i missed them so much. Couldn't resist, had to buy them and eat!
Anyways, let's go straight to the fun. As mentioned at the beginning of my post, this guy Hamadi gave us a VERY GOOD DEAL! Call him. Brought us to an island and we just go crazy!
The water is pretty clear! You can see lots of fishes and also some small corals. So, we really enjoyed it a lot, given that i don't know how to swim, i still enjoy it.
After the whole day of snorkelling, we then have to check out and go sight seeing the island. Trust me there are a lot of things to see around. But first we just gotta grab lunch.
This is Jawa Mee, it's suppose to be good but unfortunately it's not the best that i've ever eaten. But anyways, that's just to fill the tummy.
There are a few places you might wanna go but i would say just go to the Dutch Fort and the Mini Great Wall of China. But i enjoyed more when i was at the Dutch Fort.
And while you are at it, go get yourselves a fresh coconut drink!
All good things must come to an end. Well just a little tip, there are ferry that has open area so that you can sit outside and enjoy the view. Go out, don't stay in the boring aircon seats.
The bus back to KL starts from 8.30am and the last bus is at 7.00pm. So plan you time wisely. I would recommend to buy the tickets ahead of time.
So to sum up, 2 back to KL starts from 8.30am and the last bus is at 7.00pm. So plan you time wisely. I would recommend to buy the tickets ahead of time. My bus departed at 5pm and i reach KL at 11pm. CRAZY! But anyhow, it was still a fun trip. You want more fun, go with a gang of friends and go camping. And buy yourselves a bottle or two just for the evening, it would be fun!
